Susie- I do wholeheartedly agree that nosy is just the perceived level of how close the curiosity is to the final uncovering. And whether or not the source of the information mind said uncovering. Thanks for this great read!

Ah hello Thalia, thank you for your comment - and yes, quite. I think that the source can mind (and therefore it's perceived as nosy) whilst the intent was simple interest (on the part of the curious one) so you end up with a slight mismatch - which is often the case. It's always happening with my dad, people are just making conversation/being interested but, because he finds it difficult to speak (post stroke) he gets annoyed and thinks that people are being nosy. I'm forever having to say that they're just trying to make conversation/to be kind.
