Thank you and yes, it WAS liberating but, a year of acute on chronic pain and being holed up mostly at home has left me feeling like, well...like I could do with doing it all again!
I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell. I hope you feel better soon. Injury and illness are never good, but they do sometimes make us reframe our view of ourselves and our bodies. They make you appreciate the body's essential functions—its sheer aliveness even—as opposed to its "beauty" or "ugliness." I myself, after a back injury, found myself saying: "I don't care what it looks like as long as it works well!" (Thankfully, I'm well now.) That kind of pain certainly makes you reorder your priorities.
Yes, absolutely - and, I find, death does too - I lost my mum last year, and one of my best friends and that was a real wake-up call to just, enjoy life and make the most of what I do have, and to live with gratitude. I mean, I did all those things anyway but it was a start reminder that this is all finite and I, for one, don't want to be wondering "what if..." and, that yes, I still have a working body, for which I'm thankful! Glad to hear you're better, life is awful when your back goes - we don't realise just how reliant we are on our backs.
Positivity and love received most gratefully, and thank you for sharing the experience of rounded hips and buttocks and belly. Speaking as a stick insect voluptuous flesh is a most enviable luxury, xxx
Great post! I'm glad to hear you had that wonderful, liberating experience!
